Introducing the Lumera Aurora DPL Device
Our brand-new DPL Lumera Aurora device features the latest Dynamic Pulsed Light (DPL) technology. This innovative technology combines the power of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) with the performance of lasers to deliver long-lasting hair removal.
DPL transforms light energy into thermal energy to directly target the hair follicle. The result: a solution that is more effective, gentler, and better tolerated by the skin.
What is Dynamic Pulsed Light (DPL)?
DPL is an advanced long-lasting hair removal technology that uses targeted wavelengths. Through a high frequency of short pulses, it gradually heats the dermis until it reaches a temperature sufficient to damage hair follicles and inhibit regrowth, painlessly and without harming surrounding tissue.
The treatment is based on a precise spectrum of 640 to 750 nm, utilizing the selective photothermal effect. This action increases the follicle's temperature and destroys its growth cells, while optimizing melanin absorption and penetration depth.
A second spectrum, between 530 and 750 nm, acts simultaneously on the skin tissue. It stimulates collagen and elastin production, improves blood circulation, and helps restore skin elasticity. The skin thus becomes smoother, more supple, and visibly revitalized.
Thanks to a higher energy density than traditional IPL, DPL is also very effective in treating acne and pigmentation spots.
Evolution of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Technologies
- IPL uses non-coherent light pulses across a wide range of wavelengths (400 to 1200 nm) to target different chromophores in the skin. IPL + RF (Radio Frequency)
Combines intense pulsed light with radio frequency to heat the deeper layers of the skin and enhance results.
- SHR (Super Hair Removal)
Works with rapid, repeated pulses, allowing for gradual heating of the skin. "In-Motion" technology makes the treatment faster, more comfortable, and safer.
- DPL (Lumera Technology)
Uses a narrow light spectrum (530 to 750 nm), optimizing absorption by melanin and hemoglobin for superior effectiveness in hair removal and skin treatments.
OPT and AFT Technologies
OPT (Optimal Pulse Technology) and AFT (Advanced Fluorescence Technology) are advanced versions of traditional IPL.
OPT – Optimal Pulse
- Uniform energy (square wave) unlike the irregular peaks of conventional IPL
- Improved safety, with a reduced risk of burns
- Consistent and even results
- Ideal for hair removal and photorejuvenation
AFT – Advanced Fluorescence
- Conversion of unwanted UV light into usable light
- More comfortable and precise treatment
- Reduced pain and recovery time
- Effective for pigmentation spots, redness, acne, and skin rejuvenation
Comparison with conventional IPL
| Criteria | Conventional IPL | DPL (OPT / AFT) |
| Irregular | Energy (peaks) | Uniform and controlled |
| Safety | Higher risk | Very low risk |
| Comfort | Sometimes painful | Gentler and more comfortable |
| Effectiveness | Variable | High and consistent |
SHR Technology (complement to DPL)
SHR IPL technology combines pulsed light and laser for a fast, effective, and virtually painless treatment. It gradually heats the follicle to approximately 45°C through continuous movements.
Key points:
- Comfortable treatment, no shock sensation
- “In-Motion” mode with up to 10 pulses/second
- Suitable for all skin types, even dark skin
- Good effectiveness, even on some lighter hairs

In summary
The Lumera DPL devices, incorporating OPT and AFT technologies, represent an intelligent evolution of IPL. They offer more effective, safer, and significantly more comfortable treatments, both for permanent hair removal and skin rejuvenation.

Comparison with traditional Intense Pulsed Light (IPL):
Traditional Intense Pulsed Light:
Multiple pulses, painful.
Limited lifespan of up to 70,000 pulses. Frequency of 1 Hz, slow treatment.
Dynamic Intense Pulsed Light (DPL):
Single pulse, short pulse duration, completely painless.
Up to 1 million pulses.
Frequency of 1 to 10 Hz, fast treatment.

- OPT/AFT: Each pulse is identical, replacing the traditional triangular output pattern. This results in more uniform penetration depth and increased patient comfort.
- Filtering of two wavelengths: 530 nm - 950 nm; 640 nm - 950 nm. The wavelength is purer, more effective, and painless.

- In motion mode, 1-10 Hz for time savings. Two operating modes: E-light and SHR.
- Meets a wider range of needs for increased professionalism.
- Intuitive software.
